No: 325, 29 November 2018, Press Release Regarding The High Level Meeting On Syria Held On 28-29 November 2018 In Astana
The eleventh round of the high level meetings on Syria was held on 28-29 November 2018 in Astana.
In the meeting, ongoing efforts for a political solution to the Syrian conflict were coordinated and developments on the ground were discussed.
The participants reaffirmed their common determination to intensify consultations and to finalize the establishment of the Constitutional Committee at the soonest possible time.
The determination to fully implement the Memorandum on Stabilization of the Situation in the Idlib De-escalation Area was reiterated and the importance of a lasting ceasefire in Idlib was stressed.
The participants rejected all attempts to create new realities on the ground under the pretext of combating terrorism and expressed their determination to stand against separatist agendas aimed at undermining the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria as well as the national security of neighboring countries.
The participants welcomed the mutual and simultaneous release of several persons, detained by the opposition groups and the regime, on 24 November 2018 as a pilot project of the Working Group on the Release of Detainees/Abductees, Handover of Bodies and Identification of Missing Persons.
It was decided that the twelfth round of the high level meetings on Syria will be held in February 2019 in Astana.
